Newbie question re Fretless neck markings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi

I am currently learning on a fretted bass but would like to add a cheap fretless also.

I have spotted several i like but unlike some, they dont have fret markings on the neck so it would make playing it challenging to say the least.

Is there any technique for working out where the fretboard markings would go and for marking the neck until i get a little bit more feel of where i should playing the notes?

thanks

Pencil lines. They can be removed later, and are unobtrusive but are easy enough to find if you're looking.
