No E string snap/punch?

Sign in to disble this ad
On my P bass the E string doesn't get that attack/clang when you really attack it o=like the other strings. No matter how hard you pluck the E, it wont get that punch. I'm thinking it's something with the bridge, but idk what it would be. As far as I can tell, raising and lowering the saddle hasn't helped.
Just last night I changed strings, from a set of Chromes to SS lo riders. I thought maybe the E on the chromes was faaulty or something, I've had them for well over a year. So does anyone know of anything I could do to fix this?
I have a Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles if that makes a difference.

maybe the E string has a factory defect and it's already dead right out of the pack. i experienced that once with a roundwound set.

what is your spacing between pickup and strings....maybe raise your pickup and boost low mids.
