so ill try here .......mim jazz neck developed a gap between the heel and the rout...... i tightened the screws and they seem to be holding but im wondering if this kind of thing is common .....
it appears to be a near new bass w/o a scratch on it and i wonder if it could have left the factory that way......it played fine and then the intonation went .........all at once.....
i noticed a marked increase in string height, then the gap at the heel........could the friction from the neck pocket have kept it in tight for a year or so then let loose......thats my best guess but id appreciate any input

ive already torqued them down and as it turns out all four screws were about one full turn loose.......the gap at the heel is gone...the screws dont slip,at least not yet but im wondering if this kind of thing is a common kind of factory defect before i start tearing it apart......the intonation will have to be done and possibly some truss rod adjustment.....

I doubt if you'll need much in the way of re-intonation.

You solved your problem, I wouldn't fuss about it anymore ("tearing it apart")

Threaded inserts & machine screws...

It's not a common factory defect. Anyhow, it seems like you've got it sorted out. If it gives way again, then you'll have to plug the holes and re drill.
