A noobish question. Replacing a jack.

I will be replacing a jack like the one in the picture above. The one I will be taking out has two terminals where I put the arrow. One positive and one negative. The one I will be putting in only has one positive terminal just like the one in the picture. Can I just move the negative connection to the another location like the one I circled, or are these two different type jacks?

If it maters it's a jazz bass with a Bartolini TBT preamp.

No, you can't replace yours with the type in the pix. The extra terminal serves a a swich to remove the battery power from the preamp when the cord is unplugged.

Is there a name or type to this jack I should be looking for?
Or is it simply recognized as having the two terminals?

Yes. It's called a stereo jack.

you are probably looking for something like this

Flush Mount Stereo Jack 1/4

just make sure, if you are ordering from that supplier, that all the measures are the same.... diameter is really important otherwise...... won't fit.
