Not completely sure whats wrong with my bass.

Well I have a Peavey Grind NTB 4 string and yesterday night and I noticed my 8th fret wasnt seeming to get the tone it normally has. Now I figured maybe the string or a dead spot but its not completely dead-like, and I changed the string so I know its not that. It just seems dullish now. Any ideas whats wrong?

can you describe the sound a little more? Does it sound more like a clink! with the note not ringing at all?

Its alot lower than the others and doesnt ring out and hold sustain as much. DOes that help? But it only sounds that way amplified.

Yes only on one string. Its very strange.
