| There were a few threads about this recently. I think that the consensus is that they should be filed. One poster even posted the direct quote from the manufacturer's website about this. Mechanically, I could do it myself very easily, but I don't think I have the right tools. If I were to do it, I'd like to file the grooves with a file of the same dimensions of the strings - maybe that's overkill and not needed.
This is the reason I had to pass on the one you bought. :-) But you got a great price on it anyhow.
The newer versions of the BAII are reportedly shipped with grooved saddles as are the BAIII's already. So, I'll wait for one of those. I don't feel like spending $50-60 and then another $20-30 for something that arguably does not improve tone appreciably.
Note 1: I said "arguably" - that's for another thread (and it's already been argued almost to death)
Note 2: I'm going to buy one anyway. And yes, I would jump off a bridge if my friends did it too.
