NUT FIX !

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,
I know this has forsure been discussed already, here goes anyway....
I bought a Cort GS-2 a couple of weeks ago & found everything very nice on the bass which was a shock for a Cort.
Only thing was the nut wasnt finished properly. The strings were buried right into the nut. When i held down the 3rd fret i found the E to be too high so i needed the to file the nut slot to get it lower & also sand the top of the nut to reveil the top half of the strings.
Well i ended up going too far & got the rattle on the first fret.I started to panic , sweat & distress.... lucky for Talkbass.
I found out that Bassists use Super Glue to fill the slots & i wasnt the only dumb ass thats done this.
First thing i did was file a graphite pick down to make graphite dust. Then i dropped 2 drops of Super Glue & began to work it. Got a toothpick & placed some of it in the slot.I sprinkled some more dust on top of that & let it dry.2 days past i started filing the slot.To my suprise the substance that i made was very strong & held nicely.
Sorry i dont have any pics but i just finished the job & the bass sounds & plays nice.
I just wanted to tell people that this method really works if done properly. You dont need to buy a new nut.
Superglue + whatever 'you' wanna use
i used graphite dust with superglue.
Good Luck
