Nut question about new strings

So i recently got a used schecter omen extreme 4 too use as a drop c bass. i got some dr ddt 55-115 strings. the strings seem to fit in the nut slots well but they kinda stick out upward like the nut isn't deep enough. Since my bass is used i have no idea what the prevous gauge was. is this normal? will i have to get a full setup or just deepen the nut?

It's likely the slots aren't the right width and the strings aren't sinking all the way into the slots. A tech with the proper files should be able to fix that in about 10 minutes.
