Nut Replacement?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm about to begin using a new string set up, and I'll be changing from a traditional 5 string set-up (BEADG) to the top 5 of a six (EADGC). My string gauges will be significantly smaller (my second string was a .105 but will now be a .76). Will this be enough to warrant a new nut? I know if you go with bigger gauges you can just file out the space, but if you go that much smaller it seems like you would end up putting a new nut on to avoid rattle and tuning issues.
