Nuts for bound neck

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a bound allparts neck. In the past with bound necks I've cut the binding and put a standard-sized nut in the slot. But I'm wondering if there is a way I can buy a pre-slotted nut that will fit in between the bound edges, or will this cut down my string spacing too much?

I suppose I could cut my own nut, but that's always harder than it looks and I've had mixed results.

Just for anyone who is interested....

Upon examinig the Geddy Lee nut I decided to dremel out the binding and place a standard jazz bass nut in the groove. I think this is pretty standard.
