Odd nut? Ursa 4 short scale

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys. I am wondering if this nut on my new Ursa is off? It seems oddly high on the E but I thought that perhaps this was to compensate for the string be looser since it was short scale.

Any opinions appreciated.

Looks fairly normal. The height of the top of the nut is irrelevant. The real question is if the slots position the string at the right height from the frets.

Most often the top of the nut is higher on the E string side because of the thicker string there. perfectly normal.

The only questions are:

1. Does the string(s) play clean open

2. Is it hard to finger the string(s) at the first fret

If the answers are 1=yes and 2=no , the nut is fine.

Peace,
S

+1

I think Turnaround is exactly right.

Some nuts are just made like that, as he says the top doesn't matter, what matters is the distance from the string to the fret. And from what I can tell they look ok, no obvious problems I saw though you'd have to measure for sure. I wouldn't worry about it unless there are problems.
