Odd resonance from a Peavey Cirrus 5

This is probably the best place to pop the question, but it may be really basic, I don't know.

I have a Peavey Cirrus 5 and I haven't played it much at all. I just took the original strings off after Several Years and replaced them with D'Addario Pro Steels. I thought I was on my way to some major natural harmonics. Well, I was right, but in a bad way. The open A string spits out so much 220Hz that you can put the bass in the case and mute the strings very carefully and within a few seconds it will run away with feedback at that frequency. (with a 100 watt amp at average volume all the way across the room.) The E and D strings also have a lot of third harmonic but the E is louder. It sounds like there's something else going on that's maybe actually centered around 200Hz. I'm, going nuts. I made my own pickups and have been chomping at the bit to play this thing. After all the years of it hanging around it might actually go to a jam session soon if I can get it to work, otherwise I might bring my drums instead. (no offense) After inspecting everything I finally thought I had fouled up with the pickups or something, so I tore them out and just listened to the raw instrument. It's the bass, or the strings, or both. I don't know enough about it.

Anybody wanna take a shot at what up?
