Is it ok to leave a neck without any strings (and thus without any tension) on it for days at a time?

you can always loosen the truss rod a bit if you are concerned about developing a backbow, but generally it won't hurt as long as days don't turn into weeks.

How come you need to leave the strings off for a few days?

I want to replace the bridge, strings and tuners but I don't know how long it'll be before I will have the new stuff.

I guess there's nothing wrong with leaving the old strings on until then though. It's just that I took the bridge off to put some shielding foil underneath and took the strings off the bass for like the 5th time and I was wondering if there was any reason to put them back on again.

If I don't have any of the new stuff by the end of the day today I'll put the strings back on.
