Is it okay to shim my micro-tilt 70's neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I have a problem - I just purchased a fender marcus 4 string and I have been trying to get the set up perfect. The problem is I think I need more angle at the neck and I have maxed out the micro-tilt adjustement and my bridge saddle (specifically the G string) is as low as it can go. Is there any reason I shouldnt install a shim? Would that screw up the microtilt function? Anyone had this problem?

Thanks in advance!!!

There's a nice article in this month's Bass Player mag about eliminating that adjustment on a '75 Jazz. He made a shim out out of wood and mesh drywall tape, and explains the benefits of doing this.
