OLP MM2 Nut

The plastic nut on my MM2 is starting to give on the G string... it's probably the crappiest part on the bass. I can't find much information on replacing it, does anyone know if the Stingray4 nuts are drop-in replacements? It seems to be set in at a slight angle (i.e. it might be slightly "compensated" in that the G string side is a few millimeters farther away from the headstock than the E string side).

I'm thinking about just having a tech cut a Tusq nut for it using the existing nut as a template but not using quite as deep string slots, would this be a terrible idea or is there a better way of going about it? Currently I have a little piece of plastic under the G as a "shim" because the slot has grown too large and causes undue buzz on the string.

Although you can buy nuts with slots pre-cut, the slots are generally just guides and have to be properly shaped for string gauge and slot height anyway. Sounds like the original nut was incorrectly filed at the factory.

Just take it to a good repair dude. It's a simple cheap job, but really easy to make a total bodge of if you try it yourself and you're not experienced.

I'm not going to try to file it myself. Does anyone know if a Stingray-size blank will match up perfectly with the OLP, or should I just pay a tech to cut a big blank down to size? The nut has been wearing down, I think it is just a low-quality plastic and I'd like to upgrade to something harder.
