OLP MM2 - want to roundout fretboard..DIY..dremel?

Sign in to disble this ad
so i have this OLP MM2 and the sides of the neck are very uncomfy on my hand - be it the way i play of the bass or whatever.

i was thinking of getting a dremel bit and rounding out the sides a little. has anyone done this? is there a specific bit i should look at? i tried searching so if this has been posted please let me know.

also - i guess i would need to somehow seal or clearcoat the sides to try and get it silky smooth.... im not looking to spend alot or have a guitar shop do it. ill buy the dremel bit (5-10 bucks?) and some kind of gloss sealer or something...... Lord if you listening.....HELPPPP !!

no

step away from the power tools

OK, if you want to do it, some sanding paper and a sanding block are the proper tools. Be careful as if you mess up, you will have a lot of touble fixing it or getting a replacement neck. Think it through first and go slowly.

You need one of these:

You can see how to make it here:

Properly done, and with some cleanup, it will make your neck look like this:

It looks like your frets could use a dress and polish, too.

I taped up the neck and took some sanding paper to my sx since I was too lazy (and cheap) to go the proper route. Took my time on each side and it worked out, the difference was night and day.

Had the same issue w/my OLP as well... I defretted it!
