One fret buzzing on acoustic bass

Sign in to disble this ad
After switching to flatwounds for my Epiphone El Captain acoustic bass, I now get a horibble buzz on the 6th fret of the E string (Bb). Any ideas? Is it the change in strings? trust rod adjustment? everyother fret is fine. Its under warranty, should I just send it off for repair?

are your strings floppy?

After a string change the truss should be corrected.

there is a regular bow - the neck isnt strait, should i give more relief? and the strings arent floppy at all, the tension seems okay. it sounds like a fret is loose - a serious buzz

I am having GHS Stainless Flatwounds being put on my El Capitan next week by my neighbor/ friend/luthier. I just got it used on ebay and he is going to make sure the frets are level and if need be will level Them. then he is going to tweak the truss rod and possibly do a saddle adjustment. I will let you know what he had to go through to make this bass as playable as possible.

Now to guess at your question....you might have a high fret or it buzzes only on one fret and one string.

its not a string buzz, its a different kinda of buzz, like it sounds like there is something loose somewhere (I was thinking a fret was loose and vibrating or something) but I came here for answers, not give them
