one of the many horrors about being a left handed bass player

Sign in to disble this ad
Well,
as the title suggests I am a left handed bass player
but I recently bought a second hand Fender MIM Jazz bass for £200 but the pickguard doesn't fit properly and I'd like to swap it for a tortoise shell one.

does anybody know where I can buy a left handed pickguard for a MIM jazz bass? (the guy I got it from bought it in 2006)
preferably in England but I would buy from the US if it can get shipped abroad

Cheers

to order left handed ones you simply put an L before the template number at checkout

The shipping might be a little expensive since you're in the UK but you might try Pickguardian. I used them for my lefty MIM Jazz and it came out pretty darn good.

Since the MIM pickguards all tend to be a little different they suggest you ship them your pickguard, they make a template from it, then cut it in whatever you want and ship both back to you. It cost me $67 for a brown tortoise a few years ago, if I remember correctly. Email them for a quote.

Good luck! Being a lefty is tough...

Being a lefty myself, I feel your pain! I've purchased a couple of pickguards from Warmoth.com and they have fit suprisingly well. A little file work here and there, but I've been really happy with them. Good luck!!!

Thanks so much!!
however with the first line of templates it says if it is for a Squier 8-hole etc
how would I know that it is for a MIM bass and not a MIA?

Not really sure... I'm not too savvy on Fender J's... do the MIA's have the truss niche cut out at the neck heel maybe? I'm sure you could email them to ask what would fit best on an MIM
