Open string buzz (5 string neck-thru)

Sign in to disble this ad
My B, E and A strings buzz rampantly when played open and a little along the first few frets. Here's some details on the setup:

- Neck adjusted as straight as possible, action semi-low
- B E and A strings are slightly higher than D and G
- strings are roundwounds, 40-120 gauge

Tried raising the action for the problem strings more, but didnt really help much. Also I tried to allow some neck relief, and again no cigar. I am a semi-hard player but I also have 5 other basses which do not give me such problems. I'm not sure if I should raise the nut-height somehow or fret dress. Suggestions and comments?
