output jack for a Heartfield DR5

Sign in to disble this ad
so I'm going to be replacing the output jacks on a few of my basses for the 1st time (i'm tired of paying someone $15 for a $3 piece of equipment) I've opened them up and my Yamaha RBX 170 and my Fender P are pretty straight forward, but does anyone know the type of jack I need for my Heartfield DR5? Its active and there seems to be quite a bit more going on there.

I have this link:

http://www.heartfield-central.com/data/085.pdf

but it NEVER LOADS!

any advice would be awesome...

It looks to me that you need a stereo barrel jack. Switchcraft makes these. They are a bit more expensive than standard jacks. The longest prong connects to the ground wire, the medium length prong connects to the black wire from the battery and the shortest prong connects to the hot or white wire.

No you need a standard mono jack. What you have there is a switching jack. If both the fender and yamaha are passive then this jack below will be the one to get.

thanks again gfried!

think I actually figured that out about 5 minutes after I posted that picture. also, just tried bending the contact point in a little bit on both the passive basses and it seems to have fixed the issue. I'm sure this may be a temporary fix, but at least I know that's an option in a pinch. obviously I can't do that with the Heartfield as the contact point is actually inside the barrel, but at least now I know what I need to get for it.
