Ovation CC074 Messy Bridge issues.

I want to lower the action and set the string spacing on my Ovation CC074. I pulled the bridge from the saddle and immediately recognized an issue. There are four thin strips of plastic and the transducer is attached to the bridge. The transducer is basically a strip of metal with the bridge on top. Before I take this bass to a professional guitar tech, does anyone have recommendations? Are the plastic strips only shims and how can I avoid one or more strings being louder than the others? In addition, the D string rings forever and get louder by the second.

I am referring to the Korean made Ovation Celebrity acoustic bass with a piezo bridge pick-up.

Anyone own this model and have any experiences with the bridge to share?
