P-Bass Anodized Pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 1981 P-Bass. When I bought it, it came with an extra pickguard, which is a gold anodized metal one.

Would there be any advantage in using the metal pickguard, or are these only for aesthetic appeal?

Just for looks.

Are you not using it?

I have never used it. The bass presently has the original white plastic guard on it. It was in the case when I bought the bass.

the metal does have the advantage of being physically stronger, which matters here because the pickguard holds the output jack. also, it might provide a microscopic bit more shielding.

really, though, it's just about whatever looks cool on the bass.

Those are hard to find for a standard pbass. I've been looking for one.

I like them becuase they are strong and don't show fingerprints. They don't scratch very easily. Also the girls like them. That is the most important thing.
