Hi all. Trying to change a pickguard on my new 09 pbass deluxe and I can't get the stacked knobs off. Is there a trick or technique I can work with?

Most stacked knobs are held in place by an allen or slotted head screw in the side of the knob, when tightened holds the knob on the shaft.
