I currently own a standard Fender P Bass. This might be a stupid question but would changing out the neck to a J bass be a good thing as I prefer the thinner neck.
Thanks |

I like the thicker P bass neck, but prefer a J bass tone. What ever pushes your buttons. You don't need someone from the internet to tell you what YOU prefer. There is no right or wrong. That's an individual choice.

Find someone who prefers a J-bass with a P neck and trade necks with them! |

| | | Jaco would occasionally put a precision neck on his jazz bass, and ive heard from other bass players who put jazz necks on precision basses so anything is possible |

I personally prefer a Precision neck on a Precision bass, and as much as I love binding and blocks on a 70s Jazz bass, to me they look silly on a P. Man up and get used to the slightly thicker P bass neck!
