IF you are getting a full F# from your 1st fret ( not a touch sharp but actually a full F#) your intonation is drastically off). Intonation is something you can certainly do yourself: it's almost as simple as tuning.
From a general perspective the heavier strings are typically a bit longer in the length from nut to bridge. The issue is the
nut to bridge length that generally encompasses intonation.
Get a tuner that has a "needle swing" display and adjust you saddles via harmonic intonation procedure. Fret-less instruments are much easier to get a damn good intonation but fretted necks can come pretty close. There is a sticky and many uTube presentations on setting intonation so there is no need to go into that here but a full half step is seriously way off. IF it's a bit sharp it's still an intonation issue but some instruments have difficulty at extreme areas of the neck getting the cleanest note: it becomes a "trade-off" from a very clean note on the higher end or lower end.
