P Bass Questions

2 questions...

1. From some of the p basses I have played, the pickups have always been angled, for example, the G string poles would be screwed down so there almost under the pickguard, and the same for the E string, leaving the poles for the A and D closer to the strings, is this correct?

2. My poles aren't exactly coming out of the pickup covers, and are a tad recessed, big deal?

1: Thats to make sure the volume across all the strings is more even, and i think to put more emphasis on the midrange punch that p basses have.

2. no big deal

1. Fingerboards on P-basses are mostly radiused at 9.5", putting the A and D strings on a different plane than the E and G. This puts them farther away from the pickups, and sometimes some adjustments are made to pickup heights to allow for even volumes across all strings. A good starting point is set the pickup 3/32" away from the bottom of each string, then adjust to taste.

2. No big deal.
