I cannot get the strings lower than 5/16" off the board without a rattle on the upper frets, the bridge is as low as can be, but the intonation adjustments haven't been touched, the neck is adjusted just before the rattle so there is nowhere I can go with it, Im considering routing the body down and setting the bridge in lower. Any thoughts on this?
a few months back I played a schecter and the strings were about perfect sitting about 1/8" off the board, just right for slap and pop, or finger tapping (which is what I want)

I would buy a new guitar but I like this one, and modifying is fun.

How about just shimming the neck rather than routing to lower the bridge.

If the neck is not set, you can unbolt it and put something like even a part of a business card folded in the pocket and that'll make a big difference.
