paint chip fix?

there is a scratch on one of my basses that's about 1cm long and .5cm across. Is there any way to to repaint that one small scratch without (1) repainting the entire bass and (2) knowing what the name of the color is.

you cant really repaint it, but depending on the color you can hide the blemish. What color is it?

If the finish is nitro or acrylic lacquer, it can probably be repaired invisibly by a skilled luthier. if it's a poly finish, a repair is going to be visually evident regardless of how well it's done.

Why not take it to a luthier and see what he/she says?

If the bass is worth it, and the scratch is severe enough, pay to have it repaired right -- there are guitar paint specialists who'll do spot repairs...

if it's a less expensive bass, and you are up for the challenge, go to the guitar reranch site, and you can get tips on how to repair scratches and other minor stuff. It involves the right paint, lots of sandpaper, and lots of drying time...

best of luck!

Every scratch is a battle scar. Show it with pride. (That's at least what I say to myself when I look at the bad ding I got when I tripped on Ice going to my friend's house. At least that was a squire.)

The section that is chipped is a ruby red sort of color. The bass is a TRB6 with a burst finish. I'm not sure what you would call the burst but it goes from orange to red, in to out. I'll get some pics up tomorow to show you guys.
