So today I was playing my Geddy Lee and this happened...

Can anyone tell me how I could possibly paint it and touch it up or can how much it might cost if i have someone do it for me if there is such a thing.

The fix is a super glue drop fill. A bit of black paint is applied to the bottom of the chip. Medium viscosity super glue is dropped into the chip area and allowed to harden. This may take several applications to build a hump higher than the surrounding area. Files and abrasives are used to shape the lump back down to match. Next is rub out and buff.

It is harder to do this on a curved surface than on a flat. The surrounding finish tends to be thin on the curves so the danger of burning through when rubbing out is greater. You'll have to figure out how to hold the instrument so that the chip faces the ceiling. This will help to prevent drips and runs.

A pro will charge you by the hour. A chip like this will take anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour, depending on the damage.
