| Peavey T-20 Truss Rod problem

Anyone ever had a T-20 or similar Peavey model and the truss rod will not adjust? It will spin but won't do anything?
At the fat end of the neck there is a hairline split which someone told me might have caused the nut at that end to become loose.
I need to adjust this neck but unless I can figure out what is happening it won't do it.
