Peavey T-40 Truss Rod Adjustment

Sign in to disble this ad
Guys,

Just got a T-40 from music go round, great bass, but need the action adjusted at the neck, how do you move the truss rod on these. There looks to be access at the neck plate, plus a truck rod cover (bit it does not take an allen wrench).

Thanks,
Will

It takes a buy driver, except there's not much clearance between the nut and the wall of the cavity. Peavey did that to make you use the thin-walled truss rod wrench they made. And they made it that way so you'd have to do it right. That means pre- stressing the neck and snugging the nut up. You don't want to use the nut to move the wood.

It takes a 5/16" socket type, but the walls have to be crazy thin to fit inside the cavity. Stewmac sells one, and you can also get them off ebay.

Stewie, you're judgmentally quoting bible verses and you don't even know how to read!

I remember the Peavey truss rod wrench. On first glance, kind of cheese looking, but may be method to madness to make sure you don't over torque the thing. Those necks are very polar in that you can have wonderful service if you set it right and stay on it. They also seem to be able to go to hell without due diligence bad enough to make fixing it problematic.
