Photo-flame: What's it made of?

Sign in to disble this ad
Preparing to refin a Yamaha BBG5. It's basically a BBN5 with a photoflame finish. Before I begin, I'd like to know what this finish is made of so I don't have any surprises when I start to apply the stripper. Is it a plastic film like a transparency sheet (in which case it would take much longer to remove and might get very messy), or is it more like a photosensitive paint that can be removed just like regular paint? TIA

Photoflames are an image placed directly onto a thin veneer of wood. So where as a normal photo is developed onto paper this goes onto the wood itself. In order to remove it completely you would have to sand into the veneer although I would have no idea how far.
