Pick Up height Fender Jazz Bass 1978

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I recently bought a Fender Jazz Bass from 1978 and am experimenting now with the setup. I was used with my other basses, that the height of the pick-ups was adjustable by for instance putting a piece of foam under them. On my new (old) Fender, I found out that the pickups are completely stuck in their housing, apparently glued to the bottom. Which leads me to the following questions:

-Is this usual in these basses?

-Would it do any damage if I took the pickups out?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated..

Thanx,
Vunz
