Exclamation Pick-up Heights - How to?? HELP!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to adjust pick-up height on a Yamaha BB415.

I've got a split-coil on the front, soap-bar style on the back.

With the front pick-up, I can't work out what height to have it to get a decent, full-rounded sound at a decent volume. All I'm getting is a muffled sound with next to no definition, so I'm relying on the back pick-up for all the tone which is great, but it's still lacking in definition.

Any ideas???????

Pickup height would have more to do with volume (output) then overall tone. If you're hearing a lack of definition regardless of how you have the pickups set, it would lead me to believe that the issue is somewhere else. It could be something simple like old strings, how you have your amp set, etc. What's the rest of your rig consist of?
