Pick up/ String alignment

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I'm looking at buying an Stingray copy, it's new, 1/2 price, sounds great and plays wonderfully...

However... looking at it today I noticed the D and G strings were off centre from the pick up... The G string is so far off that it's almost at the edge of the pole piece... What's the issue here? Wonky neck? Does it make that much of a difference?

Thanks for your help

At or near edge of pole peice only causes very minor sound change if any compared to properly centered. Its kinda like pups where string is centered between two pole peices, still works fine. Problems only happen when you only have one pole peice and string is too far off from it. Sure properly centered looks better and offcenter looks amaturish, but it ussually works fine.

Thanks darkstorm...

that's what my gut said, just wanted to be sure it wasn't a glaring construction error warning or something...

Cheers

Ideally they should line up. If their slightly off center, as was said, its not a big deal
