Pickerboard on a Fender P 73'

Sign in to disble this ad
This is my first post, so im not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I'm looking for a replacement pickerboard for my sunburst p-bass, since it's broken off where the jack terminal is.

Today the pickerboard is black with a white edge, is this the original colour or is the brown maple one the original?

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement one for this model, the replacements i find seems to have never newer fittings, and without the thumbrest support.

Thanks for any help!

Pickerboard isn't common terminology, at least in these parts.
Pickguard or scratchplate will get you far more results.

Try using the search words "replacement pickguard p-bass" in google.

You will have no trouble finding a replacement for your instrument.
Finding one that ships to Norway 'might' be more difficult, I don't know.

.. I have a 73 that was Sunburst and the orignal pickguard was a Brown/RedishTortoiseshell. I bought a modern replacement from Axesrus.com and the screw holes lined up fine. You might have a problem finding one with the holes for the thumb rest, but you could use the old pickguard as a template and drill the holes yourself :-).

Sorry, not that into the english terms. "Pickerboard" is pretty much directly translated from norwegian I guess.

I have a replacement one from the previous owner, but the holes don't fit and i'm not that eager to drill new holes into the bass.

PJsShearer: I'll check the axesrus.com, can you remember which you ordered that fitted? The thumb rest isn't that important, but it would be nice to keep it as original as possible.

Roger at Jeannie's Pickguards is very helpful and has worked with your situation many, many times before. One solution might be to order a guard without holes drilled and drill them yourself to match your bass. Roger will also make an exact replacement if you can send him the original. They seem to ship internationally. I would contact them for ideas if nothing else. http://home.comcast.net/~pickguards/

Ordered from axesrus.com, thanks for the help!

If this doesn't fit (it'd better fit, set me back 48£ including transport), i'll try Jeannie's
