Pickguard doesnt fit with pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
So i have a pbody bass and I got a new pickguard (metal one) and I have been fixing it up. I just found that the pickguard doesnt fit around the pickups, because it is too small. How should I go about fixing this?

You can get an Hobby knife and shave some plastic either on the pickguard or the pickups. If you ever plan on swapping out the pickups later, I'd leave them alone and go at the pickguard.

How bad is it? Is the pickguard significantly too small, or just a few fractions of an inch?
