Pickguard for a Precision Bass - Left Hand!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I've been scouring the net for a replacement Pickguard for my Left Hand 73 Fender USA Precision.

There seems to be an abundance of Right Hand Pickguards out there, but no Lefties at all, and I understand even Fender themselves don't supply Left Hand Precision Bass Pickguards!

Any ideas where I could get one from? I was hoping to get a Red Tort Pickguard which is what was originally on the bass when new, but failing that possibly a Black one?

I put one of these on my lefty '78 P. Tort to replace original black. I had to adjust the pickup rout fit ever so slightly, but I'm told that's pretty normal. All in all a good deal on a nice PG.

Hi

The best place I know of is Pickguard Heaven. If they don't have it in stock, they can make it for you. They did guards for me on a 72 Telecaster II bass and a 72 Musicmaster bass and they were both dead on. Screw holes, routs, thumbrest and everything was perfect. They keep over 1000 patterns in stock to manufacture from and I know for a fact they do lefty's. I forgot to mention that they have several styles of Tort available.

Thanks for your help guys, I've contacted them to see how much one will be (inc delivery to the UK).

Judging by the amount of how many lefty bassists are out there I can't believe no-one actually stocks these and am very disappointed that Fender only supply right hand ones as an after sale item.

I actually ordered one PB-black pickguard LH from WD:
http://www.wdmusic.com/fender_precis..._13569_ctg.htm

They sent me a Right handed version and When I told them there was an error in their shipment, they sent me another one for free, this time left handed.
(and I was advised to kep the right handed pickguard and not to ship it back to them, as It's said to be very "decorative" for walls :-)

Result below on my used (and yes dirty) MIJ PB-'57:
