I'm looking to score a nice Highway One J-bass this week. If you have any comments on the actual bass, please feel free to share.
However, I was wondering what all you wonderful folks here at TB would recommend in terms of pickguard color for a 3-tone sunburst J-Bass. Right now it has a white (parchment) pg, and I honestly don't think I can stand it for long.
I have been thinking black, but that's sort of boring. I have come across red and yellow pearloid pgs (ChoppersMusic on Ebay) which have peaked my curiosity.
Then there is always the option of looking like Jaco sans pg.
I'd really appreciate some input. Thanks! |

I definitely meant to mention tort, but failed. So it goes. Definitely in the running.
Also, if anyone has any pics of their sunburst with pickguard they recommend, I'd love to take a look! |

Mint green looks really nice, IMO.

That looks a lot better than I thought it would, seanm. So many different "grains" of tort out there, though, I'm a bit scared it could look cheesy with the wrong one. You know? Anyway, beautiful instrument.
Also, I'd love to see a sunburst Jbass with mint green. You guys seem to like it. It's such a soft color it's hard to imagine it being striking enough of a difference from just white. I'd like someone to prove me wrong. |

| | | | White pearloid, that's what I have on my American Standard Five string Jazz. It came with the white but the pearloid white really pops and isn't so run of the mill like the tortoise.

| | | | I prefer a Black Pickguard... never really liked Tort Pickguards. Swap the black pickup covers for white/cream ones, and you'll have yourself a nice bass!

Good point, Marton -- sort of been getting that vibe
Jbrooks -- that's an interesting suggestion. Do you have any pics handy of your J? I'd love to take a look. |

I am desperately looking for SOMEthing to make it not look like every single bass out there.
I was thinking that maybe Tiramisu Swirl (made popular on MMs) would look cool with sunburst but I haven't bit the bullet yet. |
