Pickup height on Ibanez SR506?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I tried looking at the Ibanez site and couldn't find an answer, and neither did I find any e-mail addresses to contact. Like, for example, on the EBMM site they have recommendations of a typical setup - didn't find anything like that on the Ibanez site..

So, anyone know what the "suggested" pickup height of this bass would be?

Thing is, I lowered the action to my liking and now particularly the higher strings are very close to the pickup.

There is no hard and fast rules about pickup height!. As long as the strings are not touching them. A general rule of thumb would be around 5mm for the back pickup (bridge), and around 7mm for the neck pickup.
You need to balance the height so the pickups put out a similar volume, which is why the discrepancy above.
Hope this helps.

Pete.

Also I forgot to say you can adjust the height of either treble or bass side, I tend to keep them pretty level in regard distance to strings.
