Pickup screws coming loose while I'm playing...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm having a problem with the screws of my pickups staying in place. I use the pickup as a thumb rest, and after a few show I'll notice the scews starting to work themselves loose. Any reason why this is happening?

It happened on my Stingray and I glued the scews into place. Now it's happening on my Thumb and I can't get one of the screws to go back in. Does Warwick have something going on under the pickup that would keep me from scewing it back in? I know this is long, but I have 3 shows in the next 2 days and the Thumb is my main player, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the advice.

if the screw is loose in the hole, try using wood glue and toothpicks or a dowel to fill the hole and once it's dried screw them in again.

I agree with hypercarrots. It's a matter of friction holding the screw - if you increase friction, it should stay put.

Blue Loctite (NOT RED!!!!!!!!) or that very thin plumber's tape also works.
