Please Help! P-bass/La Bella Flats/foam/intonation problem

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Squier CV P-bass with the hi-mass bridge, dig the way it sounds as a bass. About a month ago I put on some La Bella Flats, mediums not the Jamersons. I pressed them at the saddle and stretched them. Had to adjust the saddles and action afterwards, but it intonates fine...without foam. Every piece i try throws the intonation off and I've never had this problem. Tried different cuts, sizes, and types. Under the strings and in the ashtray. Even with subtle pressure the intonation moves. The main problem is after i intonate it with the new foam, a day or two later either its moved again or the foam is buzzing so bad you can hear the initial thwang from the buzz on the string in a recording, and its kind of hard to tune with it jumping like that. Then I slide it to where theres no string indention on the foam, no buzz, but intonation is off again. I have the neck good by eyeball standards and it doesnt appear to be moving. I don't know if the strings are still settling/stretching, or theres a problem somewhere?

I'm trying to record at the moment and it keeps getting delayed, not to mention frustrating, so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
