please recommend a glue

to keep the metal ferrules that seat the bridge gibson style from falling out of the round wooden holes in the guitar body.

Are the pressed in studs loose? Here's what I would do: Don't glue the studs back in but use medium super glue to 'size' the holes to where they would have been when the thing was new. Make the holes smaller, but not much or you'll crack the body when you press the studs back in. Superglue is great but watch out, it makes a huge mess if you don't have experience with it.

well they are pressed in but the trouble is that they are under pressure to be pulled out by the strings dragging the bridge up and over a pivot. So just pushing in means they will under constant pressure eventually just be pulled out.

So are you talking about string ferrules like on the back of a telecaster that hold the ball of a string or are you talking about internally threaded studs thats are pressed into the top of a guitar and anchor the bridge? If a hole is too big for a press fit, the pressed in part is going to lean forward under tension. Give us a better description of the part you're talking about.

thanks vejesse.....by writing these replies i kind of got to thinking and cured the problem.

ok its a three point gibson bridge but the rear two are below the front one ..thus causing and upward pulling moment about the front point ..thus dragging the ferrules out of the body.

by raising the rear screws to the level of the front screw point in the same vector as the strings the upward force was reduced to zero but made very little difference to the action!!

never had one of these type of bridges before but now it seems so obvious.
