Polishing

Can anyone recommend a product to remove superficial scratches? They're in a poly clearcoat and could only be seen when held up to the light, but I know they're there and it bugs me. Maybe a rubbing compound of some sort?

I use regular turtle wax and it seems to work ok. The best thing to do is just to get used to it.

The first product I recommend is Meguiar's Scratch-X. It's cheap, easily found at discount stores and auto parts chains, a little goes a long way, and it's a pretty gentle product. Great for the first attempt...if you find that the scratches don't polish out, you can always make another pass, or go with a more aggressive product.

Use just a little bit of the product, and be sure to work it in until it's very close to dry. This way the abrasives fully break down and you won't leave behind any light hazing. Follow up with an automotive sealant (if you're into the Meguiar's line, their NXT 2.0 is a nice product...actually a hybrid wax/polymer sealant that will add some nice gloss along with protection).

Good luck...
