Polishing fine scratches out of a pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone have positive experiences with any products for polishing light scratches out of a pickguard? I had this "plastic polish" at one time that was supposed to be for turntable covers (remember those?) but it wasn't worth a damb on pick scratches. Would something like Maguire's Scratch-X be too aggressive?

Sratch-X would be too aggressive. This is the stuff you want. The no.2 polish is one of my favorite products and most used too. Works GREAT for pickguards but also leaves the best feeling on the back of a finished neck I can get.

I bought a set of all 3 for like $12. Stuff lasts forever.

I never thought of that! I have been using it for years on motorcycle windshields & helmet faceshields. It does work good on plastic. You can get it at most motorcycle or snowmobile shops

Would that Novus polish work well for taking swirl marks out of a clearcoat?

I have tried it on paint and it didn't work very well, Maguire's Scratch-X is better
