Popping sound

Sign in to disble this ad
So I recently picked up a used marcus miller bass.... lowered it a bit and got the neck where I like it... but now it's popping like I'm pulling the plug... when I slap the e string hard... I can slap the others and they'll clip the amp too (if it's really loud) but it won't have that POP sound..

Are the strings too low??
IS the neck to flat??

I only have this issue on the MM

Check and see if the strings are touching the poles of the pickups.. That'll give you your sound

EDIT: I mean when you hit the string, not if they're just sitting on them

thanks 4 movin it ... I tried lowering the pickups but they're low... the popping sound is gone unless I try to play like Louis Johnson... then it pops... and the strings are really too high... the jack seems a little loose, I knocked it and POP so that may be the source as well...

I'll keep messing with it... thanks for the ideas... lemme know if you think of anything else to check...

btw, it's popping in passive mode (so I know it's not the amp)...
