I'm not sure what a "low action" is considered to be, and I'm getting fret buzz on my E string. The neck is fairly straight with only a slight curve to it, and I'm not sure if the action im getting right now is considered high or low. please post pictures of the side of your basses neck so I can see how high the strings are. Thanks!

Have you had your bass set up? I don't really know what category my action falls in but it feels good, that's all that matters to me.

This is the first step.. right strings right setup.. few of us pay to have the frets properly honed.

How low?
Better than pix.. I have some that a dime will barely fit under the strings.... action this low is a bit more finicky for weather changes and hand technique... not right setup for many styles etc.

Most basses I've run into compensate lack of refinement (neck straightness, fret honing etc) with higher action.. many are setup by generalist guitarists - not bass players..

You do have one of the larger bass specific vendors in Atlanta - may be a good time to stop in for a fit/finish or test drive - it's SUPER rare to find an off the shelf setup with lowest possible action.

I tend to run with my action stupid low. Takes a bit of an adjustment to the right hand. Can't dig in real hard. I had an older Thunderbird with action so low that sliding a Fender "thin-medium" pick between the G string and the 7th fret made the string move up.... Now, I run my basses a little higher, still in the 1.5mm on the G range tho. I will say my bridges are set up oddly though. The G/D/A strings tend to follow the FB radius, then the E/B strings are at about the same hight on the bidge/off the bass body as my A string. This lets me dig in a little harder on the "money notes" while still having "stoopid low" action for the "stupid bass tricks" stuff.
