Pre Slotted nut for Gender Geddy Lee Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
Would any of the pre slotted 'fender replacement' nuts work? My understanding is the geddy Lee has the same nut width as any other jazz

Which brand would you recommend? sorry, I am a novice about this stuff.

Pre-slotted nuts are ALWAYS a bad idea.

A custom-cut nut is the single best thing you can do to get great action on a bass.

Even if you use a pre-slotted nut, it will still need to be filed to fit correctly, so why not just get a blank and do it right?

pre-slotted nuts are fine if they're made of a decent material ("tusq", say) and are somewhat close to the right size, but yes, they still have to be filed and shaped professionally to fit right. this is important, because the right fit and filing makes all the difference in playability, tuning, and intonation.

their real advantage is that a good tech can install one a bit quicker than making one from scratch, so it can be a little less expensive to have it done.

it's still not really a DIY job, especially with a finished and bound neck like the geddy.

Have someone install it

The neck is bound and the new nut needs to be filed accordingly
