most preamps are held to the body cavity with strong double stick tape or a dab of epoxy. I have not seen many with screws

If the screws go into the wood of the body, get some wooden toothpick and wood glue. Put glue on the toothpicks and stuff them in the holes. Trim the excess toothpick off flush with the wood. Let the glue dry. Re-mount the preamp and don't over tighten the screws.

Would prob be easiest to just remove the screws and use doublesided tape to fix the silly thing to wall control cavity. Otherwise as mech says about seal the holes and redo. For screws take one to home depot and replace with ones same size but little longer. Then rescrew preamp with new holes after hole filled with glue and toothpick drys.

If it's like a Jazz or Musicman Stingray, put some pieces of toothpicks and a tiny dab of wood glue into the screw holes, then screw the plate back on.

If it's like the knobs are falling into the control cavity, you have much bigger problems, but can be fixed.

I want to see pictures before I go too far, here.
