Problem with Fender P bass Tone Knobs..

Sign in to disble this ad
Let me see if i can explain this problem.. When I first bought my bass my tone knocks turned nice and smooth with some resistance..

Now some of them are really "loose" and they dont have that nice resistance when turning them..

How can i fix this?

Also i feel like the tone on my pbass is broken or something.. Do i bring this to a tech to look at? How do i find a good repair man in my area south florida?

Remove the knob and make sure the nut holding the pot in place is tight. Sounds like it's loose and the pot is turning.

If it's MIJ or MIM, I think you'll probably need an 11mm or 12mm socket (or you could use an adjustable wrench) to retighten the nut. If it's what Pilgrim said it is, fixing it is just too easy. I'd put a little masking tape on the pickguard around the area first to avoid scratching up your pickguard with the wrench (if you use one).
